Bugs:: download name not appearing when adding newzbin post
Newzbin really screwed the pooch with their changes. The numeric folders were driving me nuts! So I had a beer and found a workaround using Newsleecher and Ninan 2.0

1.
Setup Ninan 2.0 to autostart and make sure you specify the path for the
oldNzbFilesDirectory section in the ninanconfig.xml.
Use correct Newzbin user/pass but phony news server info (we'll use Newsleecher to parse n grab for now)

2. Install Newsleecher. Plug in the correct news server address and login info. Set the download path to your old Ninan download folder. Turn on "Auto Import NZB" and point the nzb monitor folder to the same path you put in the OldNzbFilesDirectory section of the ninanconfig.xml.

Log into Ninan 2.0 and use the Upload NZB files box to add your NZB files. Ninan won't grab it but will dump the NZB in the folder. Newsleecher picks it up and grabs it with full naming in the destination foldername. (you may want to drop Newsleecher in Startup)

No progress viewing but it works... and you know what it is when it gets there.

Hope this helps til theres a patch

Hi!

I switched now to ninan v2 (btw it is just awesome :) well done) because of the newzbin IDs as download names but I still have no names for the corresponding downloads. What did I do wrong? Under Directory Settings I have set "use maincategory" but it just doesnt work.

Greetz

P.S. Hi growlf,

Could you tell me what version of ninan your using? And what errors (if any) are being reported in the console (or log file). You may need to increase the logging threshold (on the Advanced->General page of ninan) ie set it to DEBUG.

Cheers

Addons:: idiot proof oneclick install pls
Hi,

Sorry for the delay, been on vacation.

Did you get the hang of the installation, just drag and drop the script file into the fire fox window and it will install it for you, just follow the prompts.. From memory for the script to install this way it must end in .user.js

As for FF3 scripts made with FF2 will work with FF3, I have FF3 running here with the same scripts as I've always used, typically the scripts only need to be updated when the web page they are based on is changed or the application (Ninan) the interact with is changed..

Anyway hope this helps, anything else just shout..

Itsmee.

Moving files after download [by akash1221]

Usage:: Moving files after download
Hi,

I'm using ninan on a Windows 2003 server.

I have a NAS attached and would like to move files to a network share after the download is complete.

I went through the forums here and found this:
*************************
add this to your downloadend.cmd file:

move /y %DOWNLOAD_DIR% a:\

Where "a" is the drive letter of the drive you wish to move the directory to. You can also use:

move /y %DOWNLOAD_DIR% \\CompName\SharedDirectory\

to directly move it to a shared drive

BTW this is just for windows.
*************************

However this does not work. I get an access denied error when I attempt to run it from a command prompt.

I then explored the possibility of using powershell to move the files (acutally coping then deleting) using the following command:

powershell.exe -command "Copy-Item -Path \"C:\ninan-2.0.0\download\%DOWNLOAD_DIR%\" -Destination \\nas\disk\ninandl -Recurse"
powershell.exe -command "Remove-Item -Path C:\ninan-2.0.0\download\%DOWNLOAD_DIR% -Recurse

The command executes, however nothing happens, no files get copied to the \\nas\disk\ninandl folder.

I then turned debug on and looked at the log and it shows the command executing, but nothing happen (there is no further info in the log).

The powershell works fine from the command prompt but not from the downloadend.cmd or allfinished.cmd.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Akash

BadBoyNDSU could you (as a temporaray measure) limit the download rate of ninan to see if it resolves your issues? I am looking for an invite to newzbin if at all possible.
I have just installed pclinuxos and would love to get ninan started but the folks at newzbin seem to have deleted my old account and now I need an invite to get in again.

I currently have a work around using virtual box and newsleecher but I would like to get something going that I can run in Linux (not in a VM)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
In10city
