Ninan is a binary news downloading program. The major difference from most other programs is that Ninan is a pure serverside version. This means you connect to, and control Ninan by using your favorite browser. Ninan can be accessed from anywhere if you set up a server or just use your workstation to run Ninan.

Ninan makes usenet downloading easy by using the .nzb file format. This way only one file is needed to download all the file parts from usenet. Ninan even automaticly repairs and unpacks the downloaded files for maximum convenience.

Ninan supports multiple newsservers, auto-par, auto-unrar, smart-par (never download more .par repair files then you need),e-mail notification, speed throttling, multiple accounts and many more smart features.

Feel free to download and try Ninan. If you have a question or problem have a look at our Forums and Wiki.

Ninan is open-source, free and has a growing community to support it. Besides the community Ninan has some important sponsors we can't fail to mention:

We are very proud that YourKit has donated us an open-source license for the Ninan project.

JetBrains has donated an IntelliJ open-source license, which we are proudly using in the Ninan project.

Also many thanks to Atlassian for given us a license for FishEye.

Ninan.org has a wiki which is lacking maintenance at the moment. We are in big need of new articles and rewrites of the current onces. Since this is quite time consuming I'm hoping for our users to help us out. The wiki is a community effort so if you have some spare time please help us out and contribute to the wiki.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Ninan : Ninan V2 RC3 released!
Posted by tux on 2008/9/10 5:03:20 (1588 reads)

Today Ninan V2 RC3 is made available for download.

The release of RC2 was a little rushed because of Newzbin switching to V3. It turned out that the new download code had major problems with high-speed downloads, so lots of work went into fixing that. All the major issues have been fixed, but we still think its necessary to iron out any remaining bugs with a RC3 release.

On the positive side you also get a load of new features to play with

Regards the Ninan devs

Ninan : Wiki

The new wiki is now in use. We've switched to MediaWiki since it's the best known wiki software.
A lot of work has to be done, the pages look kinda boring atm. Feel free to pimp the pages if you know howto ;)

It's possible to log in with OpenID which will be build in to the rest of the site soon. If you know a lot about MediaWiki and like to become the manager of the Ninan Wiki let us know. Building Ninan takes enough of our time already ;)

This week there will be a lot of work done on the website. It's possible the site goes down for short periods of time. Expect some links or functionality to fail.

Newzbin changed their systems so the patched version is no longer needed. These versions have been removed from the download section.
